Dr. Carolyn Brown
Dr. Brown is the owner and Veterinarian at Manistee Veterinary Hospital. She grew up in Mason County on her family’s dairy farm, where her early experiences working with animals sparked her interest in veterinary medicine.
She pursued undergraduate studies in medical technology, which fueled her interest in diagnostics and how the body works at a cellular level, before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.
After spending time in Pittsburgh working in a small animal hospital that combined emergency and general practice, Dr. Brown returned to Michigan in 2012 and joined Manistee Veterinary Hospital.
In 2018, she purchased the practice following the passing of Dr. Westheimer, continuing its commitment to caring for the local community.
Dr. Brown has a special interest in surgery and enjoys continuing education to stay current and bring the best possible care to her patients. Her approach to medicine focuses on individualized care—recognizing that each patient and family is different. She works closely with clients to provide clear education, thoughtful recommendations, and treatment options that are realistic for each situation.
She is known for her honest, straightforward communication, balanced with compassion and respect. Her goal is to ensure clients feel heard and supported, without judgment, while prioritizing what is most important for their pet’s health and comfort.
As a practice owner, Dr. Brown is dedicated to creating a positive, team-oriented environment where staff can grow, continue learning, and provide attentive, low-stress care for both patients and their families.
Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their two daughters.
